The new index is currently under the stage of public
consultations from the Government and the Professional Institutions. The
document will be formally released in January 2005. There are various changes
to the Version 2.0 released in October 2001. Dr Leonard Chow is the Chief
designer of the manual. The revisions will offer grater practicality and better
presentation. The deletion of "Construction Process" was mainly due
to the fact that it is very difficult to obtain construction information after
the building has been built. To be practical, the index with the practical
elements in "Management Practice" is introduced. With the
implementation of Index 10 "Health and Sanitation" in January 2004,
the response from building property management are extremely good. Index 10
applications to residential buildings are particularly popular as a measurement
tool for healthy buildings. The new IBI manual Version 3.0 is believed to be a
much practical document in the field of Intelligent Buildings with the
characteristic of easy to use, easy to understand and easy to calculate.
2. Intelligent Home Index (IHI)
The IHI is currently under preparation by Dr Albert So, Technical Committee
Chair and his team. The new Intelligent Home Index shall be released for public
consultation in December 2004 and will be published in January 2005. It will be
presented as a technical paper in the AIIB Symposium ISSF 2005 in January 2005
by Dr K C Wong. The document is believed to be the first guidance standard in
